Over 35,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with myeloma each year, and it remains the second most common blood cancer. Despite advancements in treatment, multiple myeloma is still considered incurable, though research continues to improve survival rates and quality of life. Raising awareness and funding research is critical to finding a cure. Understanding Multiple Myeloma • What is Multiple Myeloma? Multiple myeloma occurs when abnormal plasma cells grow uncontrollably in the bone marrow, crowding out healthy blood cells. This can lead to bone damage, kidney failure, anemia, and a weakened immune system....
